Bucksaws

DSCN4962

As a spoon carver, one of my favorite tools is the bucksaw. As the name suggests, the bucksaw is a saw used for bucking (Cutting logs to a manageable length). For a while now I have been using a metal framed bucksaw which was as ugly as it was difficult to use. I decided it was time to make myself a wood frame for it.

I ditched the old metal frame and found some scrap pieces and before long I had a very functional saw which wasn’t bad to look at either. I liked it so much I made a few more in different sizes which are for sale on my etsy.

  1. Nice work! What kind of woods did you use for the saw?
